Hope Discovery Project
Discover Potential. Create Opportunity. Build Futures.
Applications for our first intake are now open.
At Helena Hope Foundation (HHF), we believe that talent exists everywhere but opportunity does not. There are talented young people, entrepreneurs, artisans, women, innovators, and community problem-solvers whose potential may never be recognised simply because they lack access to the right resources, networks, mentorship, or opportunity.
The Hope Discovery Project exists to help change that.
We don’t just look at where someone is. We look at where they could go.
WHAT IS THE HOPE DISCOVERY PROJECT?
The Hope Discovery Project is an HHF initiative designed to identify promising individuals, recognise their potential, and connect them with opportunities that can help them grow.
We are interested in people with:
- Talent
- Determination
- Promising ideas
- Valuable skills
- Entrepreneurial potential
- Creativity
- Leadership potential
- A commitment to solving problems in their communities
Our goal is not simply to give assistance.
It is to help people move from potential → opportunity → progress.
WHO WE DISCOVER
Potential can take many forms.
🎓 Talented Students
Young people with ability, ambition, or exceptional potential who may lack access to the opportunities needed to develop.
💡 Young Entrepreneurs
People with promising business ideas or early stage ventures that could benefit from guidance, mentorship, resources, or connections.
🛠 Emerging Artisans
Skilled individuals whose talents could become sustainable livelihoods or businesses with the right support.
👩🏾 Women Building Businesses
Women developing businesses, livelihoods, or community initiatives who need access to skills, networks, resources, or opportunities to grow.
🌍 Community Problem-Solvers
Individuals creating practical solutions to challenges within their communities.
🌱 People With Untapped Potential
Sometimes potential does not fit into a traditional category. We want to remain open to discovering people whose determination, creativity, leadership, or ideas could create meaningful change.
HOW IT WORKS
THE HOPE DISCOVERY JOURNEY
We want every participant’s journey to answer a simple question:
MORE THAN A GRANT
The Hope Discovery Project is not designed simply as a funding programme.
Financial support can be valuable, but money alone does not always create sustainable change.
We believe people may also need:
- Knowledge
- Skills
- Mentorship
- Networks
- Market access
- Confidence
- Resources
- Opportunity
That is why we seek to build a support model around the individual rather than simply providing a one-time intervention.
We don’t just want to fund potential. We want to help develop it.
BUILDING A NETWORK OF OPPORTUNITY
No organisation can provide everything alone. The Hope Discovery Project therefore seeks to build relationships with:
- Businesses
- Entrepreneurs
- Professionals
- Educational institutions
- Training organisations
- Investors and funders
- Development organisations
- Community organisations
- Government institutions
- Mentors and experts
These partnerships can help create access to opportunities that HHF could not create alone.
The right connection at the right time can change a person’s trajectory.
TELLING THE STORIES
Discovery is only the beginning.
We want to document the journeys of people whose potential has been identified and supported through the project.
With appropriate consent and respect for privacy, our stories may highlight:
These stories can help demonstrate that opportunity can create a chain reaction.
One person supported can create opportunity for others.
OUR ANNUAL DISCOVERY
As the Hope Discovery Project develops, HHF aims to establish an annual process for identifying and supporting promising individuals.
Our ambition is to discover people across different areas, including:
Education
Students and young people with exceptional potential.
Enterprise
Entrepreneurs and emerging businesses.
Agriculture
Farmers and agricultural innovators.
Skills & Craft
Artisans and skilled individuals.
Community Leadership
People creating solutions within their communities.
Innovation
Individuals developing ideas that can address real challenges.
The number of people supported will depend on available resources, partnerships, programme capacity, and the quality of opportunities identified.
We will focus on meaningful support rather than simply chasing numbers.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
For us, success is not simply:
“We discovered 150 people.”
Success is what happens afterwards.
Discovery matters because of what it makes possible.
Did someone gain a valuable skill?
Did a business become stronger?
Did an individual gain employment?
Did a farmer strengthen their livelihood?
Did a young person access education?
Did a woman increase her economic independence?
OUR VISION
We want the Hope Discovery Project to become a platform where talent meets opportunity.
A place where people who might otherwise be overlooked can be recognised.
Where potential can be developed.
Where opportunity can be shared.
Where partnerships can open doors.
And where people who receive support can eventually become people who create opportunities for others.
Discover Potential. Create Opportunity. Build Futures.
